Big snow storm rolling through

On Friday evening and Saturday morning January 5th it snowed about 4 inches but it was very high quality snow, at least for packing. I promised Savanna that I would build a snowman the first time it snowed on our new grass and so I did. From the angle you can see the big nose and the little mouth I carved into the snowman's face.
Lisa started her new job at WPJH and is happy it was a short week as there is much to learn and a busy time of the year.
Kazya got her wisdom teeth removed on Dec. 28th and has mostly recovered. She witnessed a friend getting hit by a car (she is recovering after a brief hospital stay) on Jan 2nd, her first day back at school. The girl was in the crosswalk on her way to Seminary. It was pretty traumatic.
Savanna is trying to earn money to buy a new cell phone by ironing shirts for her dad. She really, really wants a new phone.
Konner is working at Target still and drumming when he can.
On New Year's Day we continued our tradition of going to a movie and a meal together. Mikel and Kami joined Konner, Kazya, Savanna, Lisa and I to see the 10:45am showing of I Am Legend with Will Smith. It was a pretty good movie. Then we went to Costa Vida for everyone's favorite Mexican Food.
I had a really rough week with our email server at work, but now things are mostly recovered. I intended to take some time off but had to change plans when we lost a hard drive on the 27th. The result was me working through the weekend (at least until Sunday around noon) to get things fixed. What fun. I was really looking forward to this weekend just for the break from work. Last night the power went off and I got a call to let me know that the servers might have gone down which would have required a trip in to work for me. However, the UPSs (battery backups) kept the servers up until the power came back on. I played basketball this morning and shoveled the driveway, built a snowman and a snow ramp for sledding and we plan to work around the house today.

Knudsen Family Christmas 07

We had the family here on the 22nd for dinner (soup, snacks, etc). Everyone except the Nebraska people, Ryan (who was working) and Mikel who was at his company party, was there. Here are the grandkids. We are going to do a white elephant gift exchange and have dessert yet this evening. Should be more fun coming up.

Saturday, August 25th.....

Sometime earlier this week, possibly Wednesday or Thursday, August 22nd or 23rd I mentioned to Lisa how I was wondering if a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was playing somewhere along the Wasatch Front. After all, it had been more than a year since we'd been to one and I think it's just about an annual tradition for us. Yesterday as Lisa sat waiting for the car to be safety and emissions inspected she opened an Ogden newspaper and happened upon an advertisement for, you guessed it, Joseph. It was playing in Layton at the amphitheater across from Layton HS Friday and Saturday only. Just to be sure it was a major production--we saw one at Cherry Hill that wasn't major--we drove over there to investigate Friday night just as they were singing the introductory song. Satisfied with the quality, we made arrangements to go with Savanna--the only child who is interested--tonight. Early in the afternoon, Lisa also called and invited Grandma Smith who had never seen a live production of Joseph. She will spend the night with us tonight.

Tickets to the show were only $2 so I assumed it must be produced by a local Stake. That turns out to be the case; in fact it was the Layton Holmes Creek Stake. They even had a live orchestra. Some of the unique things that they did included:

They had 4 narrators at once who shared the duties.
They had a fiddle player during the western themed song.
They had a violinist (same as above) for the French themed song.
The hairy Ishmaelites drove a jeep on to the stage.
They played a little football game with cheerleaders for Go Go Go Joseph song.

Overall, it was very well done and we really had fun. On the drive home Lisa and I were trying to recall every production of Joseph we have seen. Here's the list in chronological order (to the best of our memory)
Cherry Hill community theater. This was my first exposure to the music and Lisa's first play.
Oakley Valley Arts Council.
Pages Lane Theater.
Kingsbury Hall with Donnie Osmond playing the lead.
Tuacahn with David Osmond.
Woods Cross High School.
Tuacahn with the entire Knudsen Family.
Terrace Plaza Playhouse, Washington Terrace.
Ed Kenley Amphitheater, Layton.
So, I guess it's an every other year tradition for us since we have seen it only 9 times.
This was Savanna's second time seeing it performed live and Grandma's first.
